It was also decided that each contributing local body appoint two delegates to form a deputation to meet the Minister at Thames to place before him their objections to the loan. , Speakers at the conference expressed absolute coniidence in the present administration of the hospital board, emphasising that their objections were mainly against local bodies being asked to shoulder an ever-increasing burden which had reached a point where it was becoming impossible for ratepayers to pay. The conference which had been called by the Ohinemuri County Council was also attended by the Hauraki Plains County Council, the Thames County Council, the Paeroa Borough Council, the Waihi Borough Council and the Thames Borough Council. The Thames Borough Commissioner was also present. An apology for absence was received from the Coromandel County Council. Mr T. A. Barrett of the Ohinemuri County Council was elected to preside over the conference which consisted of over 28 delegates.
