GIVE GENEROUSLY
—„— APPEAL BY THE MAYORESS GOODS FOR STREET STALL FUNDS FOR PATRIOTIC WORK An appeal for cakes, jam, fruit, meat, poultry, produce, in fact anything that can be sold at the street stall to be held in Paeroa on Friday by the Paeroa Patriotic Committee was made by the Mayoress, Mrs Edwin Edwards, in an interview with the Gazette yesterday. «We have to raise £1250 to find our quota for the 1944 All-Pur-poses Appeal,” stated Mrs Edwards, adding that it was hoped that a large portion of this amount would be realised from the street stalls to be held during the year. “ All donations may be left either at the Paeroa Borough Council or the Ohinemuri County Council offices or at the Gazette Office, with me at Mr Edwin Edwards’ Office or at the stall on the day in question,” explained the Mayoress. “I know that in these days of rattoning it is asking much of people to donate cakes, etc., for the stall, but the need of funds for the men serving overseas is more important still and I am sure the women of the town and the surrounding district will give and give generously of all they can spare on Friday,” concluded Mrs Edwards.
