AUTUMN BLOOMS

FLOWER SHOW IN PAEROA ANGLICAN LADIES’ GUILD LARGE DISPLAY OF DAHLIAS The Autumn Flower Show of St. Paul’s Anglican Ladies’ Guild, held in the Parish Hall on Thursday, was remarkable for its display of dahlias. The blooms exhibited were of a high standard considering the recent stormy weather. The entries in all sections were very good. There was an increase both in entries and variety in the vegetable . section which proved that people were growing more vegetables of all kind's. The entries' in the children’s section showed originality and much time and thought given to the designs. The champion bloom of the show was won by Mrs F. J. Johnston. The attendance was not large owing to the inclement weather but those present had an enjoyable time. Musical items were delightfully rendered by Mesdames W. Aston, J. Stevenson, M. K. McKee and Miss Laura McKee and ‘ elouutionary items by Mrs Tate were also given. The accompanist was Mrs J. L. Brown. The produce stall did good business in charge of Mesdames S. Hedge, V. Boles and C. A. Blackwood. The Vicar, Archdeacon W. IG. H. Weadon, thanked all present and those who had helped to make the afternoon the success it was. ■ Afternoon tea was served by members of the Ladies’ Guild of which Mrs W. Pearson is president.
