SPEED ON COAST

RESTRICTIONS TO BE MADE PROTECTION NEAR BEACHES Advice was received- from the Transport Department at a meeting of the Thames Coast Progress Association that steps would he taken to restrict the speed of motorists through the residential areas of the Coast. As a child was injured in a motor accident on the Coast road and it was feared that further accidents might occur, the association’s representations about the matter were carried forward to Mr J. Thorn, M.P., and to the Thames County Council. The council at its last meeting sent a recommendation to the Transport Department that the speed limit foe 25 miles an hour through the residential areas. Advice was also received from the Automobile Association (Auckland), that the necessary signs would be erected as soon as permission had been obtained from the department.
