“BROADWAY LIMITED” PROGRAMME AT REGENT “A GENTLEMAN AFTER DARK” Hal Roach’s latest film production, “Broadway Limited,” which will show at the Regent Theatre on Thursday and Friday is a gay, fast-paced comedy, brilliantly- directed iby 'Gordon Douglas. The feminine lead is played: by Marjorie Woodworth, who is being hailed by criticis as the greatest screen discovery since Jean Harlow whom she closely resembles. Opposite her in the role of a young and handsome physician is Dennis 1 , O’Keefe, another newcomer on his way .to stardom, who recently played the romantic lead in Roach’s “Topper Returns.” Featured also are Victor McLaglan,’Patsy Kelly, Leonid Kin-, skey, Zasu -Pitts and George E. Stone, a line-up of Hollywood’s leading comics and funsters. “Broadway Limited” unreels a laugh-filled, swift-paced story of the vicissitudes in the life of the great film star, April Tremaine, who is en route from the west coast to New York, accompanied by her film- director and -publicity agent. As a publicity stunt, the public is led to believe that Miss Tremaine is the mother of a baby girl. But at the time of this announcement, the baby of a socially prominent family is- kidnapped, and identifying marks on Miss Tremaine’s baby are similar to those of the child who has disappeared. This inevitably leads to a whole series of dramatic .incidents, which are,-packed with, suspense and surprise. How the -picture finally winds up provides a tense and exciting finish. “A Gentleman After Dark,” starring Brian Donlevy, Miriam Hopkins and Preston Foster will show also on Thursday and Friday at the Regent Theatre.
