OPEN CARNIVAL

PAEROA SWIMMING CLUB SPORTS AT THE BATHS MANY VISITING COMPETITORS Although the weather was threatened with an occasional light shower the Paeroa Amateur Swimming Club’s 1943-44 open carnival held in the Paeroa Municipal Baths on .Saturday was extremely successful. Some excellent performances were witnessed by a large attendance of the public. The takings at the door totalled over £l6. Competitors from Matamata, Y.M.C.A. (Hamilton), Morrinsville and Hamilton were present in addition to local club members and close finishes were the order of the day, making the task of the judges a very difficult one.

A full programme of events was run off efficiently and quickly by an enthusiastic band of officials, the Reliable Radlio Service Public Address System greatly assisting by announcing results and calling competitors to the startling line.
