Drainage Board Meeting The monthly meeting of the Thames Valley Drainage Board was held last week when the chairman, Mr F. E. Hughes, presided over Messrs F. Brown, iG. 'D. Sealey, W. T. 'Dale/ W. W. Dunn, A. -H. Hayes, A. J. Luxton, J. Orr, L. 'G. Jensen and H. Wagstaff. The clerk, 'Mr H. Rowbotham, was also in attendance. School Swimming Sports The Paeroa District High School swimming sports will be held on Friday. An interesting programme of events has been arranged, while competitions for the various cups is expected to be keen. An invitation to be present is extended to parents and all interested in the children’s sports. Water Heater Elements “That until after the war regulations be amended to permit the renewal of elements in the smaller water heaters” was a Waihi remit discussed at Tuesday’s meeting of the Northern Thames Sub-Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers Union. The remit was carried; Oyster Season One of the effects of the interruption of the inter-island steamer services this week was to delay the supply of the first oysters of the season in the North Island. Supplies that were expected a few days ago have not yet been received. Farmers In Conference The quarterly meeting of the Northern Thames Sub-Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union was held in the Brian Boru Hotel, Thames, on Tuesday, the chairman, Mr S. E. Hall, presiding. Others present were Mrs A. H. Blackmore, and Messrs D. O. Samson, C. Christensen, J. H. Boyd, A. J. Campbell, V. C. Rickard (Waihi), H. H. Hicks, R. Baker (Turua), C. W. Schultz, R. E. Tye, C. H. Waite (Ngatea), L. Tye, A. Strong (Kerepeehi), G. A. Avery, H. R. Morrison (Hikutaia), W. Hayes, Chas. Townshend, W. H. Cheale (Netherton), C. G. Jackson, A. F. Thorp, H. C. Jackson (Paeroa), T. Bums, J. Flynn (Mangatarata), W. Flooks, R. E. Wilson, E. E. Jamieson (Matatoki), G. C. Donovan, K. A. Hamilton, E. M. Minifie, William Hamilton (Coroglen-Whenua-kite), H. S. Curtis (Colville), G. L. Sexton (Kaihere) and the secretary, Mr A. T. Dow. Mesdames L. A. Batchelor andi O. M. Strong, of the Women’s 'Division of the Farmers’ Union were also present.
