LAND NEAR NETHERTON SYNDICATE FORMED PAEROA FIRE BRIGADE MEET (From the Ohinemuri Gazette of March 8, 19’04) A meeting was held in the Netherton schoolroom on Saturday last when a syndicate was formed consisting of the young men of the district who wish to acquire small farms with a view to®settling on them and start in the dairying industry. Mr F. Hurst was appointed secretary, and was instructed to write and ascertain if there was any Government land available for selecion near Netherton. These young men arc not speculators, but bona fide workers anxious to settle on freehold farms of their own. At a meeting of the Paeroa Fire Brigade on Friday evening, the resignation of Mr G. Forsyth of hsi position of secretary of the Brigade, was received with regret and Mr iP. Brenan was appointed to the position. Mr Forsyth is leaving Paeroa within the next few days to take up his residence in Waydno. He has been a most energetic and capable secretary to the brigade, and general regret is felt at his departure.
