NEED FOR MANURE
QUESTION TO MINISTER VITAL TO THE DISTRICT ROLLING STOCK FORTRANSPORT A question of vital interest to the primary producers, relating to fertilisers, was asked in the House of Representatives by Mr A. J. Murdoch, National M.P. for Marsden, in conjunction with Mr A. S. Sutherland, National M.P. for Hauraki. The question was addressed to the Minister of Railways, and asked, whether in view of the urgent necessity for the early application of fertilisers to the farm lands of Northland, the Hauraki Plains and the Waikato districts, the Minister would make early arrangements for the supply of rolling stock to meet all fertiliser demands. Dairy companies, it was stated, advised that present supply of rolling stock was' inadequate and was only sufficient to transport approximately 50 per cent, of the present fertiliser quota. The Minister’s reply will be made later.
