AUSTRALIAN PRODUCTION

A week before war was declared, the Australian Government received from Germany four gauging and weighing machines to test .303 ammunition, but they were not enough.

At the same time a machine toolmaker arrived from Canada. Shown the machine, he said he could copy it —and he did. In fact, the machines he has made since—quite a number —are working to a greater degree of accuracy than the German, and they cost little more. He is still busy.
