EATING AS A HOBBY

AN AUSTRALIAN COOK CONDEMNS HORSES AND GIRLS There is a cook in Australia's first Panzer unit who. after dinner one night, went out into the park and ate two baked rabbits and a jar of pickles. For breakfast next day he had two plates of porridge, 17 hard-boiled eggs, 22 slices of’ bread and butter and six cups of coffee, washed down by two pints of beer. For lunch, he promised his interviewer he would eat soup, spaghetti, two or three helpings of steak and kidney pie, some sweets, and a bit of fruit.

“Then,” he said. “I'l fill up at two or three of the Army canteens in the town. Eating is my hobby. Fellows who spend their money on horses and girls miss a lot of good meals. I like the old-fashioned way of eating—with the fingers. Too much fiddling’about with a knife and fork ruins a meal.”
