CONCERT AT KEREPEEHI SUCCESSFUL EVENING PATRIOTIC FUNDS ASSISTED The Kerepeehi Hall was filled to capacity on Thursday evening, September 9 when a concert organised by Mr and Mrs W. Kearns in aid of the Kerepeehi Patriotic Funds' was held, talent being present from Paeroa, Turua and Kerepeehi.

The programme opendd with items by the Kerepeehi Schoo] Choir which was accompanied by Mrs G. McGowan. Other items were:—Piano solos, Mrs J. L. Brown (Paeroa); vocal solos, Mesdames J. Stevenson (Paeroa), Mitchell (Paeroa), Clark (Turua); humorous sketches 1 , Mr R. McKenzie (Turua) and Mr P. Caisley (paeroa); vocal solos, Mr Maunder (Turua); yodelling songs, Mr D. Powley (Kerepeehi); Maori haka, Master Billy Kearns.

Pipe solos were rendered by Master Alan Stevenson, (Paeroa), who also played the accompaniment for the Highland dances- and sailors' hornpipe rendered by Miss Joy Mclnnes (Paeroa). Tap dances were given by Master Lance Whisker (Paeroa), accompanied by Mrs J. Brown (Paeroa). Mrs McGowan (Kerepeehi), and Mrs J. L. Brown (Paeroa), played the accompaniments foi- the vocal solos. The items were all of a very high standard and the large audiece was not slow in showing its appreciation, all the artists being repeatedly encored.

The closing item was “Land of Hope and Glory,” sung by the entire company, the audience joining in the last chorus.

On behalf of the Kerepeehi Patriotic Committee, Mr P. G. Pearce- expressed thanks to all who had taken part in the concert, especially the performers who had travelled from Paeroa and Turua, also to Mr and Mrs Kearns who were instrumental in organising the concert. <■

Mr Kearns also thanked the Turua and 1 Paeroa folk, especially Mrs Brown (paeroa). who had attended to the arrangements at Paeroa. Mr Kearns also exnressed his appreciation for the work Mrs McGowan had done in training- the school children. He also thanked the audience for their attendance.
