SURPRISE VISIT

PATRIOTIC WASTE COLLECTION INSPECTION BY THE MINISTER The Hon. D. Sullivan, Minister of Supply, who spent Friday night andSaturday morning in Paeroa, paid a surprise visit to the Ohinemuri County Council yards on Saturday morning to inspect the work of those assisting in the house-to-house collection of waste material organised by the Paeroa District Patriotic Committee. , The Minister was welcomed by the Mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards and after being introduced to those responsible for the collection, spoke to the members of the Paeroa Boy Scouts who were assisting in the effort. The importance of the work was emphasised by the Minister who pointed out the scarcity of rubber and paper to-day. The principal supply of rubber was to-day in the hands of the Japanese, he explained. The Minister left after expressing appreciation ■ of the excellent work which was being done in this direction in Paeroa.
