HEALTH STAMPS
1943 TRIANGULAR ISSUE . PRINCESS’ PORTRAITS Ud AND 3d DENOMINATIONS The 1943 issue of health stamp is expected to be received in Paeroa about the middle of September, to be available to the public front October until February. This year’s, issue will be something quite new in at least two respects. The stamps bear portraits of Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret Rose and they will be triangular in shape! These will be the first triangular stamps to be issued in New Zealand. They will be issued in two denominations, Isd and 3d, and in each case one-third of the proceeds of the sale of the stamps will go towards the maintenance of health camps for under-privileged children. Health stamps have been issued in New Zealand since 1929, and have always been sought after by collectors,
some of the earlier stamps being worth as much at 28s each. This year the Federation of Health Camps is making a special appeal to collectors by the provision of distinctive firstday covers, which will be obtainable from health camp committees and the larger post offices. In cases where the post office is asked to place the stamp on the cover, a servicing fee of Sd a cover will be charged. When issued the stamps will be on sale at all post offices in each district.
