LITTLE RAIN

WEATHER DURING AUGUST 15 FROSTS EXPERIENCED RECORDINGS TAKEN IN PAEROA Only 3.85 inches of rainfall were recorded in Paeroa during August, the lowest experienced for eight years. The average rainfall for August over the last 29 years in 4.19 inches. At total of 26.26 inches has been recorded for the year to date compared with 21.57 inches for the same period last year and 36.81 inches in 1941. Rain fell on 16 days during August but on no occasion was the fall heavy, the highest recorded being .78 inches on August 14 and 19 respectively. Sunshine was recorded on 19 days, the reading being taken at 9 a.m. each day. Fifteen frosts were experienced during the month with one thunder storm on August 19. Barometric pressure showed little

fluctuation, the lowest reading being 29.10 inches on August 6 while the highest wa& registered at 30.24 inches on August 29. There was considerable variation in readings from the thermometer, the highest being 59 degrees on August
