OBITUARY

MRS MARY HANNAH CURTIS

OLD COLVILLE RESIDENT The death occurred suddenly of Mrs Mary Hannah Curtis of Kawhia and formerly of Colville. Born in Timaru 68 years ago, the late Mrs Curtis received her education from Miss Jessie Mac Kay the writer. iShe married Mr Chester Curtis of Timaru and came north where Mr Curtis took up gumdigging, goldmining and Coromandel granite quarrying work at Cape Colville. For 40 years Mrs Curtis resided in Colville district and many folk will remember her cheery invitation to a cup of tea. She enjoyed wonderful health until the last 12 months. For the last few years Mr and 1 Mrs 1 Curtis have made their home with a daughter, Mrs Bronlund and son-in-law. The body was laid to rest in Kawhia Cemetery, the Rev. Bell of Otorohanga reading the service. There were many beautiful wreaths and floral emblems. Mrs Curtis leaves a family of .twelve. The eldest two, Mrs W. Blackwell and Mrs J. Medland, reside on Great Barrier, Mrs C. Smith at Perth, Lieut.-Commander H. Curtis in American Administration of U.S. Navy, having a home in Quebec; Mrs M. Rakich, Frankton, Mr T. B. Curtis, Colville (returned from overseas), Mr C. W. Curtis, Colville (returned from Fiji), Mrs A. Bronlund, Kawhia, Tpr. A. C. Curtis, Te Aroha, Mrs T. Mayclair, Coromandel, W.A.I. Aileen Curtis, R.N.Z.A.F., Hamilton.
