42 YEARS’ SERVICE

OHINEMURI JOCKEY CLUB MR W. NEIL’S GOOD RECORD Tributes to the long service which Mr W. Neil of Paeroa has given to the Ohinemuri Jockey Club were paid by the president, Mr P. E. Brenan, at the annual meeting of the club on Tuesday night.

Mr Neil, said the president, had served on the committee for 42 years and was now retiring owing to advancing years. Mr Neil had always been a highly esteemed committeeman and the club was indebted to him for the service he had given. (Applause). Later in the meeting the Mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards, also referred to the valued service which Mr Neil had rendered to the club and moved that members place on record their appreciation of the great service Mr Neil had rendered. Carried by acclamation. Mr Neil in replying, traced the difficulties with which the club and committee had had to contend in the early days. .He expressed his gratification in the present sound position of the club to-day and thanked members for the kindness they had shown him.
