AIRMAN HONOURED
FUNCTION AT NETHERTON PRESENTATION FROM DISTRICT A very enjoyable evening’was spent in the Netherton Hall on Wednesday evening last to farewell LeadingAircraftman Ivan East who is leaving shortly for service overseas with the R.N.Z.A.F.
Music for dancing was supplied by Mrs A. Laurent, Mrs J. Pennell and Miss M. Sarjant which was very much appreciated by all. After a dainty supper Mr L. C. Sanderson in the absence of Mr J. A. Reid, chairman of the Netherton Patriotic Committee presented L.A.C. East with a wallet wishing him luck and best wishes from the Netherton residents. Mrs J. A. Reid on behalf of the Women’s Institute presented the guest pf the evening with a parcel of woollen comforts. Musical honours were then accorded. L.A.C. East in replying thanked everyone for the gifts he had received and said he hoped it would not be very long before he would be back in Netherton once again. Euchre prizes were won by Mrs H. Coldicutt and Mr C. Nicholson. A most enjoyable evening closed with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne and “God Save The King.”
