TO START AT ONCE
WORK AT HIGH SCHOOL ADDITIONAL CLASSROOM ADVICE RECEIVED BY MR THORN Advice that instructions had been issued to take immediate steps to proceed with the work of erecting an additional classroom at the Secondary Department of the Paeroa District High School is contained in the following letter which Mr J. Thorn, M.P. for Thames has received from the Hon. H. G. R. Mason, Minister of Education. The' Minister wrote to Mr Thorn as under: — “I have to acknowledge your representations, when you handed to me a letter dated August 14 received by you from Mr S. Wheeler, hon. secretary of the Paeroa District High School. Committee, Paeroa, urging that, as the Building Controller had given the necessary approval to allow of the erection of an additional classroom being proceeded with at the school, early attention be given to the
work. “In reply, I have to say that the matter is being delayed as little .as possible and the only thing remaining to be done is to obtain Cabinet approval of the expenditure involved. I hope to have this very shortly when I shall at once advise you.
“In the meantime, as the result of vour urgent representations on behalf of the school committee, I am'instructing the director to take immediate steps to proceed with this work on the assumption that the money will be forthcoming, concerning which there is no possible doubt. GRANT APPROVED DECISION. OF CABINET Advice was received this week from the Minister of Education by Mr J. Thorn, M.P. for Thames, that Cabinet has approved of a grant for the erection of an additional classroom at the Secondary Department of the Paeroa District High School.
