MATCH AT WAITAKARURU “D” COMPANY WIN 12 TO 3 A Home Guard rugby match played at Waitakaruru recently between “D” Company and S ‘B” Company, the game resulting m a win for the former by 12 points to three. "D” company comprised men from Ngatea, Kaihere, Patetonga and ripiroa while “B” Company is drawn from the Waitakaruru and Mangatarata district. The latter were at a disadvantage, being much lighter than their opponents. Eric Puiman captained for “L>” Company arid Jack McTnerson for “B.” Mr Hm-on acted as referee. Two goals and two free kicks secured tne points for the winners wnile a free kick put over the -bar by Jack McPherson gave ‘"B” Company tneir three points. ’ After the match hot pies were served with tea, by the Waitakanuru Women’s Institute, helpers 'being Mesdames Stretton, Ganley and Wallis. -
