SCHOOLS CROWDED

POSITION ON HAURAKI PLAINS APPEAL BY MR A. SUTHERLAND The urgent need for school buildings in his district was stressed by Mr A. S. Sutherland, M.P. for Hauraki, when speaking on the Supplementary

Estimates in the House of Representatives recently. Mr Sutherland said that a few of the pre-fabricated school-rooms and school residences might be put up in his district until such time as the present time building difficulties were overcome. However, the Building Controller had stated the labour was being released from essential work in the district, and it was hoped that the Minister would get on with some

of the most essential work in the district. Some of the schools were verycrowded and there were also teachers’ residences wanted in many centres.
