MEAT REGULATIONS
VIEWED WITH ALARM TOO WIDELY DRAWN Communications regarding the recently gazetted meat regulations were received at the monthly meeting of the Auckland Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union. A letter from the New Zealand Sheepowners’ Federation conveyed a resolution that had been passed by that body regarding the regulations. It ,was stated that the position was regarded with “extreme alarm,” and that it was considered that joint action should be taken by the Farmers’ Union and kindred organisations. A letter on the subject was also Received from the Otorohanga branch. Retail Meat Trade Mr J. W. Jones said that there was reason to a certain extent for the regulations in respect to the retail meat trade in the country districts. ing resolution was passed: “That this
Provincial Executive considers that the meat grading regulations are too widely drawn and are either impracticable of operation in country districts or, would result in drastic reductions in the prices received by the producers.”
