WEDDING BELLS
ABRAHAMS—WILLIAMS BRIDE IN GOWN OF WHITE SATIN The wedding, took place on July 24 at the Methodist Church, Paeroa. of Miss Jean Williams, youngest daughter of Mrs and the late Mr M. Williams, of Bradley street, Paeroa, and Mr Sydney George Abrahams second son of Mrs A. Coxhead, and the late Mr T. H. Abrahams, of Te Aroha road, Paeroa. Rev. J. R. Nelson performed the marriage ceremony and Mrs Nelson presided at the organ. The bride who entered the church on the arm of her brother, Br E. Williams, was attired in a gown of white satin cut on princess lines. Her tulle veil was caught to the head with a halo of small white lilies and orange blossom and she carried a bouquet of lilies and maidenhair fern. Miss Madge Waite, of Auckland and Miss Eve Abrahams, sister of the bridegroom, also of Auckland, were in attendance as bridesmaids and wore cyclamen georgette frocks over taffeta fashioned with full gathered skirts and bodices and full puff sleeves. Their shoulder length veils were held in place by top-knots of violets and they each carried a bouquet of violets and maidenhair fern. The three little flower girls. Raewyn Williams, Beth Williams and Marion Godkin, all nieces of the 'bride, wore dainty frocks, replicas of the bridesmaids’ only in a lighter shade and carried silver baskets of violets. Sergeant G. Smith, of 'Paeroa, attended the bridegroom as best man while Mr L. Luther of Waikino assisted as groomsman. At the reception held afterwards at the Netherton Hall the guests were received by Mrs Williams assisted by Mrs Coxhead, the former wearing a navy frock and coat with matching accessories and a spray of pink roses and daphne. Mrs Coxhead was attired in a black ensemble with black accessories and carried a bouquet of violets and maidenhair fern. During the signing of the register a solo “Because” »was sung by W.A. May Luke of New Plymouth. After the reception a dance was held in the Netherton Hall. When the bride left later in the evening she was wearing a black frock trimmed with gold and matching accessories.
WILLETS—THORSTENSEN BRIDEGROOM ON FURLOUGH The first soldier’s wedding to be celebrated at St. Martin’s Memorial Church, Waimauku, took place on August 14, when Miss Myrtle K. Thorstensen, niece of Miss S. E. Wilkins, of Muriwai Beach, was married to Trooper John C. Willetts, of Paeroa, Second N.Z.E.F. (on furlough). The church was beautifully decorated. The Rev. Wright, of Helensville, officiated. The bride, who was given away by Mr Fenwick, of Paparoa, wore a fulllength frock of white moire taffeta and a tulle veil held in place by a coronet of orange-blossom. .She carried a lovely bouquet of rosebuds, stocks and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Joyce Wilkins, and the flowergirl, Miss Patricia Wilson, both wore frocks of pale pink silk and headdresses of pink roses toning with their bouquets. The 'best man was Pte. E. Taylor, Second N.Z.E.F., (on furlough). A reception was held afterward in the Coronation Hall, where the wedding breakfast had been provided and arranged by the members of the Waimauku Women’s Division and the Women’s Institute.
