AREA AT HIKUAIFOR FARMING INSPECTORS TO INVESTIGATE Recently Mr James Thorn, M.P., introduced a deputation consisting of the Thames ‘County chairman and clerk to the Hon. J. G. Barclay, Minister of Lands, to discuss a proposal made in connection with the project for the road from Thames to Hikuai, via Kauaeranga, that certain lands at Hikuai over which there is a forestry proclamation should be released for farming purposes. Mr Thorn 1 has now been advised by Mr Barclay that an inspection will be made by officers of the Lands Department, in conjunction with the State Forest Service, and if the inspection shows that the land is capable of development into dairy farms, then the forestry reservation will;be released .’and the land used for settlement.
