ANNUAL FAIR
WHITIANGA GIRL GUIDES SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION PRESENTATION OF BADGES The Whitianga Girl Guide Company held their annual fair in the Whitianga Hall on August 21. There was a good attendance and an enjoyable afternoon was spent by all.
The needlework, produce and home cooking stalls did brisk business.
The Girl Guides entertained the audience with folk dances, a play embodying the Girl Guide laws, and afternoon tea. .
During the afternoon badges were presented as under: —
Folk dancing badges.—Heather Lee, Brenda Lee, Esther Lee, Dawn Colquhoun, Lorna Colquhoun, Joy Sewell, Claire Sewell and Betty Oxley.
Thrift badges.—Lorna Colquhoun, Dawn Colquohoun, Betty Oxley and Dawn Bowers.
Laundress badges—Lorna Colquhoun, Dawn Colquhoun, Betty Oxley and Dawn Bowers.
Laundress badges.—Lorna Colquhoun, Dawn Colquhoun, Dawn Bowers and Claire Sewell.
Needlework badge.—Lorna Colqu houn and Esther Lee.
Competitions were won by Mrs Harrison, Miss D. Troughear, Mr Close and Mr F. Bowers. The proceeds from the afternoon were £lB 14s ! od.
