CHAMBER OF COMMERCE RAILWAY TIME-TABLE PAROCHIAL DISTRICT OF TURUA « *“ (From the Hauraki Plains Gazette Of August 20, 1923.) At a special meeting of the Paeroa Chamber of Commerce Executive held last Wednesday evening, it was decided to oppose any alterations in the railway timetable, as suggested by the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce. Members expressed the opinion that the proposed alterations would seriously inconvenience the residents of Paeroa, Thames, Waihi and Hauraki Plains. The motor services connecting with the trains from the Hauraki Plains and Tauranga districts .would he detrimentally affected by the proposed alterations. The Rev. F. B. Dobson presided Over a meeting of parishioners in the Church of the Holy Trinity, Turua after the service on Sunday evening, when it was reported that the Bishop was appointing the Rev. J. M. Beaufort to the parochial district of Turua and Hauraki Plains, and the following’ church officers were appointed: Vicar’s warden, Mr F. U.‘ Bell; ■ people’s warden, Mr G. H. White; vestry men, Messrs F. H. -Stephens, C. Scott, J. Schmidt, H. C. Luke, Robinson and Deacon. At the Hauraki Plains County ■Council meeting on Tuesday last, ■Cr. Hayward favoured cutting down the machinery loan to the least possible amount. In his opinion, quarry and equipment, eight punts, a roller, and a tar sprayer were all that was required. More work, he contended, should be done by contract. He had got into touch with a man who was working an improved grab, which was very light and would clean up an ordinary railway truck as clean as a man with a shovel. It was agreed to investigate the matter.-
