CAR STOLEN

REMOVED FROM PAEROA TAKEN MONDAY NIGHT PARKED IN FRONT OF SHOP A small car left in Normanby road •Paeroa, on Monday afternoon, was found to have been stolen when the owner went to drive home for his tea at approximately 6.15 p.m. that evening. The car, an Austin 7 four-door sedan with a wireless mast on the driver’s side was parked in front of Messrs Isaac 'Brown and Co’s, shop on Monday afternoon by Mr E. Bowen the owner of the car and the manager of the above firm.

When the staff left the premises at 5 o’clock the car was still in front of

the shop, Mr Bowen being engaged on work in the rear of the premises. A neighbour who left his shop at 5.15 p.m. states that the car was not in front of the shop when he passed and had evidently been removed shortly after the shop was closed. Mr Bowen , did not discover his loss until he came out of the shop at 6.15 p.m. The police were advised of the loss and they are investigating. * Mr Bowen, in conversation with a Gazette representative on Tuesday morning stated that he had always been careful to lock the car when left in the past but on Monday failed to 1 do so.
