Unconscious Humour
A story regarding an Indian mother’s letter caused much laughter when related by Dr. H. E. Annett. to the Hastings Rotary Club. The speaker said he was guardian to a wealthy Mohammedan student, and received a letter from the student’s mother written in her language. After questions regarding her son, the mother signed herself with a phrase which, when translated into English, read: “By your gracious ' help, his loving mother.”
