KITCHEN EVENING

KEREPEEHI FUNCTION MANY BEAUTIFUL GIFTS MISS TAYLOR & MR A. FISHER There was a large attendance at a kitchen evening held in the Kerepeehi Hall on Tuesday evening in honour of Miss N. Taylor and Mr A. Fisher. D. Fisher’s orchestra from Thames provided the music for dancing and Mr Kearns acted as M.C.

Mr P. G. Pearce, in asking Miss Taylor and Mr Fisher to come forward to open the large assortment of beautiful gifts, said that the large gathering indicated the esteem in which Nan and Sonny were held. He said that Nan had endeared herself to all since she had been in Kerepeehi.

Sonny, he continued, was known to all, as he had been born in Kerepeehi and educated at the Kerepeehi School and was always a good sport. He was a prominent member of the Kerepeehi Football Club and Kerepeehi’s first returned soldier. He had sailed with the First Echelon.

Mr Pearce said it was the first occasion that a returned soldier had been tendered a kitchen evening in Kerepeehi and. he hoped that there would be many more such occasions.

Mr Bailey on behalf of the Kerepeehi Football Club then asked Sonny to accept a fireside chair as a token of the esteem in which he was held in the club and for his good sportsmanship on and off the field.
