COROGLEN WOMEN’S INSTITUTE AN ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON Nine members were present at the ; July meeting of the Coroglen Women’s | Institute which was held on July 21', ' Mrs Hare presiding. > The Institute prayer opened the meeting, being read by the president. An invitation to attend the Mercury Bay meeting was received; a feature of this meeting will be a display of

home-spun wool and knitted, articles and as much interest is at present taken in this craft many would like to attend if possible. The secretary was asked to convey to Mrs Hinds the institute’s deepest sympathy in her recent sad bereavement.

Ideas in the reconstruction and improvement of the community within the scope of the institute were forwarded by Mrs Hare who stressed the importance of post-war planning. She said that the more one thought of it the greater the problem seemed to be. There followed some discussion by members as to ways in which social activities could be improved. Entertainment was provided by the playing of records of members’ favourite pieces of music. Vocal numbers were most popular. The flower competition' was won by Miss C. Jorgensen with a. bowl of violets. The hostess- was Miss K. Hodge. ’
