BOWLING CLUB

MEETING IN COROMANDEL ELECTION OF OFFICERS APPEAL MADE TO MEMBERS The annual meeting of the Coromandel Bowling Club was held in the Pavilion recently. There were present Messrs R. Campbell (chair), S. Horne, H. Howell, P. Beveridge, T. Lillis, C. H. McKenzie, P. Murphy, Glogoski, W. J. Denize, D. Strongman and the secretary, Mr F. A. Marshall. The annual report and balance sheet were read and adopted. The report showed the club to be in a better financial position than last year. During the year competition in both singles and pairs were played and some keen contests were the result. Mr S. Horne, an old player and member of the club for a numibey of vears won the singles championship while the pairs is not yet completed. It is hoped that the competitions would be continued during the coming season.

“The green had been kept in fair order by the efforts of the membersand it is only by a united effort that the club can hope to keep the green fit to play on- during the coming season. “ I appeal to all members to help in this direction,” the chairman’s report concluded. , A vote of thanks was passed to Miss Evans for auditing the books and typing the balance sheet. The chairman thanked the members for their help during his term of office. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr C. H. McKenzie; secretary and treasurer, Mr Beveridge; vice-presidents, Messrs Home, Murphy, Lillis and Marshall; committee, Messrs 'Strongman, Howell, Glogoski and Fisher; green superintendent, Mr Beveridge pro tern; delegate to Centre, Mr J. W. Barker; hon. auditor, appointment of Miss Evans approved; social committee, the same social committee as last year was reelected. The matter of the social and dance was left in the hand's of the social committee. The meeting closed with a hearty vote of thanks to the outgoing president.
