Hauraki Electoral Roll There were 8813 names on the Main/ electoral roll for the Hauraki ate which closed recently. The supplementary roll is now open. In the electoral roll published in 1941 for the Hauraki electorate there were 9136 names. Power Board Meets * The August meeting of the Thames Valley Electric Power* Board was held in Te Aroha on Tuesday, the chairman, Mr J. Price, presiding. Others present were Messrs H. M. Corbett, C. C. Webb, T. A. Barrett, J. Pohlen, A. McCollum, P. R. Hawke, J. F. Mayn, H. R. Bush, W. C. Kennedy, the manager, Mr R. Sprague, and the chief engineer, Mr N. G. McLeod. Mining Licence At Monday’s sitting* of the Paeroa Warden’s Court, Edmund George was granted a licence for a special quartz claim over 5 acres at Karangahake, bounded on the west side by the “Why Not” S.Q.C., on the south by the Crown Mines S.Q.C., on the east by the New Tarver S.Q.C., and on the north by the Waitawheta stream. Freak Calf A freak calf which has been born on the property of Mr L. Donovan has attracted considerable interest at Ngarua. Although normal in all other respects, it has, between the ordinary two eyes, what appears to he a modified third eye which is placed in the centre of the forehead. Paeroa Patriotic Committee
