MILK FROM PLAINS
SUPPLY FOR AUCKLAND QUESTION IN PARLIAMENT MR A. SUTHERLAND’S ENQUIRY When the estimates of the Department of Internal Affairs were under discussion in the House of Representatives recently Mr A. S. Sutherland, M.P. for Hauraki said that he was interested in several items on the list of expenditure and one in particular was the expenses in connection with the Milk Commission, £1220. The Commission, said Mr Sutherland, had been sitting for some time and he was wondering when it would bring down its report. A large quantity of milk for the City of Auckland was drawn from the Hauraki electorate and the dairyfarmer in that area was looking for the finalisation of the report. They were entitled to have an iricreased price to pay for the high costs of production. Perhaps the Minister could tell the House when the Commission would be bringing down its •findings.
The Hon. J. G. Barclay, Minister for Marketing replied that the Commission had covered a lot of ground and secured a fund of useful information and would at an early date be bringing down its report.
