CLOTHES STOLEN
SHOP-LIFTERS IN PAEROA INCIDENTS ON TUESDAY SUIT TAKEN FROM SHOP FRONT Shop-lifters were active in Paeroa on Tuesday, three businesshouses reporting losses. Mr D. McWatters lost a full suit of clothes, Mr J. Turnbull a pair of heavy working boots, while Mr E. V. Slyfield lost a sleeveless pullover and a pair of sox. All the goods were recovered the same afternoon. Shortly afte? 3 p.m. two of the girls ' employed by Percy Williams Ltd., noticed a man pull a suit off a hanger in front of Mr McWatters’ shop, the man hurrying off down the street. The incident was immediately reported to Mr McWatters who ran down the road and found a man near the Regent Theatre with the suit under his arm and an unwrapped jersey inside his coat.
Mr McWatters repossessed the suit and reported the matter to the police. The boots, sox and pull-over were left at Transport Ltd’s, office and returned this morning. -The police are investigating.
