A Good Effort To assist the Paeroa District Patriotic ’Committee in raising funds to provide gift parcels for servicemen overseas a small boy, Peter Chisholm, recently raffled a child’s book,, netting the excellent sum of £1 10s.
Smoke Concert in Paeroa The West Football Club will entertain those of its members who have recently returned from service overseas at a smoke concert to be held in the Civic Hall, Paeroa, to-morrow night, Thursday, July 29, commencing at 8 p.m. All members and friends are cordially invited to attend.
“Is This The Zoo?” A Waitakaruru resident on a visit to Auckland promised to take his very small daughter to the zoo. Having need to visit a business friend.in the lounge of one of the large hotels, he took the child, with him, and on seeing it packed with people, she said in a loud voice: “Is this the zoo, Daddy?” Much laughter from the crowd. Dropped From a Plane Falling from an airplane overhead, a rubber dinghy landed m a paddock on the farm of Mr N. W. Hastings, Hangawera Road, on Sunday shortly after 12 o’clock. It was collected by Air Force officers on Monday morning. This gave rise to rumours in Morrinsville on Monday morning that an airplane had made a forced landing on a haystack in the Mangateparu district.
