OBITUARY

MR JAMES GARCIA FORMER GAZETTE EMPLOYEE The death has occurred of Mr James Garcia, aged 65. In the early days he was on the staff of the Ohinemuri Gazette, taking a keen interest in the affairs of the town, being chairman of the Paeroa Rugby Union at one time. He was for 34 years a member of the Taranaki Daily News, and was widely known in boxing circles as president of the Taranaki Boxing Association. He was .also a member of the management ’ committee of the Taranaki Rugby Union, vice-president of the Taranaki Agricultural Society, a. member of the Taranaki Education Board and president of the North Island School Committees’ Association.
