WAITAWHETA WATER
PLAINS VERY INTERESTED CONFERENCE SUGGESTED At Wednesday’s meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council the Paeroa Borough Council forwarded a copy of a letter from the Minister of Agriculture to Mr J. Thorn, regarding a water supply for Paeroa borough, portion of the Ohinemuri and Hauraki Plains counties from the Waitawheta stream. In the Minister’s letter he stated' that the officers considered, that the above stream was the best potential supply for the area. Cr. D. G. McMillan said that both Paeroa Borough and Ohinemuri County will require water before long. He understood that a conference between representatives of the local bodies mentioned was to be called. If' the conference was not a. success it would at least disclose what the position was. I Any large undertaking could be taken up as a rehabilitation work. , The chairman moved that the council was pleased;to hear that the department was interested in the water supply, and the council would be pleased to take part in any conference convened. This wag seconded by Cr. J. F. Mayn and carried.
