BRIDGES AFFECTED

SCARCITY OF TIMBER OHINEMURI COUNTY POSITION ■ Because timber supplies are almost unprocurable a good deal of temporary repairs are only possible on bridges in the Ohinemuri County according to the report of the engineer, Mr L. E. Shaw, to the July meeting of the council. The report read as under:— “ Several bridges have required attention, and as timber supplies are almost unprocurable a good deal of temporary, repairs are being made. The western end of the Tirohia river bridge is very much in need of extensive repairs, but on account of timber difficulties, very temporary repairs have been made. A careful watch is ■being kept on all bridges: “Concrete pipes ordered for the replacement of old wooden culverts have come to hand, and will be installed at the first opportunity.”
