EVENING AT KEREPEEHI ENJOYABLE FUNCTION ■COMBINED GUILDS ENTERTAIN There was a good attendance, despite the sickness in Kerepeehi at present, at a social evening sponsored by the Presbyterian and Methodist combined Guild'and held in the Kerepeehi Hall recently. The opening songs were “God Defend New iZealand,” and “The Empire Is Marching,” sung by the following children, Patsy Stone, Fay Strong', Valerie Collins, Jean Murray, Ron Stone, Clive Collins, Billy Kearns and Ken Harvey. Mr Maunder (Turua), sang “That Wonderful Mother of Mine,” and ‘-'A Perfect Day,” while the third item was a short sketch by Jean Murray and Fay Strong. Mouth-organ solos by Ronny Stone, “Don’t You Remember The Time,” and “You Are My Sunshine,” were followed by two songs by Patsy Stone, “Mexicali Rose,” and “’Till the Light of London Shine Again.” ’ Two songs by Fay Strong, “A Little Village That Nobody Knows,” and “Mickey Mouse’s Birthday Party,” a ■short sketch by Clive Collins and Ken Harvey and a song by Betty Kearns, “The House At The End of The Lane,” were the next items.

Miss N. Strong’s two songs were “The White Cliffs Of Dover,” and “When They Sound The Last All Clear,” and were followed by a mouth organ solo by Ron Stone, “Maori Battalion,” and “Don’t You Remember The Time.” A recitation by Mr and Mrs Kearns was followed by a song by Mr Kearns “ Telephone Girl,” and- a recitation by little I. Kearns, “New Shoes.” The Children’s Philharmonic Orchestra, then played “Bring Back My Bonny To Me,” and “ Sergeant Major.” The following ladies obliged by playing the piano, Mesdames H. Taylor, P. Innis, W. Kearns' and N. Strong. The winners of the competition held during the evening were Mr and Mrs McGowan. The president, Mrs Kearns, thanked all those who helped to make the evening such a success by giving their services and said that the guild had benefited considerably by the function, function. Those present were Mesdames W. Kearns, A. Strong, P. Innis, H. Taylor, R. Harvey, W. Benny, H. Innis, A. Innis, G. Walker, W. Kidd, A. Stone, M. Woodward (Auckland), D. Hayes (Papatoetoe), D. Shilton, Woodbridge, Vivian, Speedie, McGowan, E. Taylor, R. Hill, H. Candy, M. Murray, R. Samuels, Radford, Misses P. Patterson, J. Shilton, O. Stone, Dennison, P. Lord, E. Lord, M. Poland, K. Jordan, K. McGowan, N. Strong, F. Strong, N. Collins, V. Gollins, J. Candy, S. Harvey, J. Burgess, P. Stone, J. Murray, V. Fisher.
