TURUA PIONEER
MR FREDERICK RSCK 37 YEARS ON THE PLAINS DEATH AT AGE OF 86 YEARS A pioneer of the Turua district, MrFrederick Beck died at the Thames' Hospital on Saturday, aged 86 years.. The late Mr Beck was born at Wallsail, Staffordshire, England, and with his wife landed in Melbourne, later taking up land in the Mering West district of Victoria, where he was one of the first settlers to grow wheat. Thirty-seven years ago Mr Beck and: his family arrived in Turua, Hauraki Plains, and for many years was employed by Messrs Bagnall Bros, on their farm at Turua. Four years ago Mr Beck retired and moved to live with. his daughter, MrsJ. Wallace, Thames. He is survived by one son, Mr G. Beck of Ngatea, and four daughters,. Mesdames F. Olsen, W. Johnson, H. Elvin, of Turua, and Mrs J. Wallace, of Mackay .street, Thames. There are 29 grandchildren and 17 great-grand-:, children. Eight great-grandsons are in the Forces, seven fighting, overseas.
