THANKS TO THE LORD MEN BACK TO N.Z. CANON W. G. WEADON’S PRAYER The following prayer of thanksgiving was offered by Canon W. G.";H, Weadon at the civic reception tendered in the Regent-Theatre on Tues-• day afternoon to the men who..had just returned from the Middle East.. The prayer was as under:— “In the Name of the-Father, of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Amen. * “Almighty God, Father of all pier-,, cies, we Thine unworthy servants, do give Thee most humble and hearty thanks for all Thy goodness and loving kindness to us an J to all m'en. Especially do we thank Thee,, O Lord

God of our fathers, for the loyalty which unites these islands with the nations and dominions beyond the seas. We thank Thee for the endurance of our sailors and merchant seamen, for the bravery of our soldiers and airmen, for the skill of doctors and surgeons, for the patient tending of nurses and for the zeal of many willing workers. We bless and praise Thy glorious Name for the response of our nation, the support our Allies, and the measure of. success to our arms. More especially do we thank Thee for all those men who went out fro mamongst us to bear arms and to be exposed to the ( peril of death, to have now been brought back safely to these shores and their homes, relieve and comfort them according t© their several necessities, bless their, loved ones, families, and friends,, keep us and'them safe from all evil. And in Thine own good time make wars to cease in all the world, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” •,
