Rules and regulations for the meeting were given as follows:— System.—The system governing the running of the races will be known as “The Dice System.” How it functions.—There will be two sets of dice. ’The first thrower will throw the number of the horse. The second thrower will throw the number of yards the horse will move. Example.—First throw 6, second throw 2. This would mean that horse No. 6 would move two yards along the track. The correct number of yards must be thrown for a horse to complete the course and be adjudged the winner. Example.—A horse that Has reached the 48-yard mark must have a 2 or two l’s thrown to win the race. If a 5 was thrown for such horse it would move up two* and back three, thus placing it a yard behind, its original position.
Hurdle race.—The track for this race will have 3 hurdles placed thereon. A horse that reaches a hurdle must have a 3 thrown before it may clear that hurdle. . Example.—A horse reaches tjj.e 211 yard mark and there "is a hurdle at ■22 yards. It will be necessary for that horse to have a 3 thrown to entitle ! it to clear the hurdle. Tote.—The tote will open 15 mini utes prior to the running of each race to enable the punters to place the j mighty dollar on their fancy. A warning bell will| ring nne mniute prior to .closing of tote. The lowest investment that can b? made will be $l.OO. Dividends will be paid on the Ist. and 2nd. horses. Totalisator tickets must be presented, for payment promptly after each race. The. stewards rese.rve the right to postpone the closing of the tote if circumstances in their opinion warrant their doing so—but do not presume, invest early. By courtesy of the Band of will play on the lawn immediately below the “Hill” grandstand. “We had our nurses' and W.A.A.C. as visitors and the brigade concert party gave us a concert at night, maka successful day,” stated Pte. Berry in conclusion. Note.—As the troops had used considerable ingenuity in thinking out the breeding of some of the horses it
was found necessary to delete some nariies.
