A FAMILY RECORD
NEW PLYMOUTH RESIDENTS FOUR MEMBERS OVER 80 THE PUTT BROTHERS We recently published a wonderful record' of six families from Maungakaramea, North Auckland, who had celebrated their golden wedding. We have been given the following record of the Putt family, of New Plymouth, which is believed to be the family record for longevity for this Dominion: Mr Richard ' Putt, New Plymouth, •who celebrated his 90th birthday recently, is the eldest of the four brothers. Mr John Putt, who lives at Okato, was 88 years old in March; Mr Henry Putt, New Plymouth, is year sold; and Mr Fred Putt, New Plymouth, was 84 years old last September. They are sons of the late Mr John Putt, who when 18 years of age arrived at New Plymouth on March 31, 1841, by the William Bryan, the first of the Plymouth Company’s six ships to bring settlers to Taranaki. Mr John Putt was the third oldest of five children who came with their parents. He married Miss Susannah Hart, one of the five children who arrived at New Plymouth on February 23, 1842, with their parents, Mr and Mrs Joseph Hart, on the Timandra, the fourth of the Plymouth Company’s ships. The four brothers have spent all their lives in Taranaki with the exception of Mr Henry Putt, who in the latter part of last century spent about 10 years at Auckland, where in 1886 he joined the Mount Eden volunteer fire brigade as one of its foundation members.
