AUSTRALIA PREPARES SCHOOLS OF INSTRUCTION X Likelihood of a gas attack in Australia is considered to be remote by the Defence service chiefs of staff, but training is proceeding in all States. Seven special schools of instruction have been arranged by the Department of Home Security to improve and maintain the efficiency of civil defence workers in Australia, covering the following phases: Bomb reconnaissance for wardens; rescue and demolition ; gas identification; care and repair of respirators: raid spotting; and schools for adviser instructors and incident officers, Equipment difficulties which loomed large in the first year of the Department's existence tire now rapidly passing. J . ‘ In most vulnerable areas all or nearly all personnel have been supplied with steei .helmets and respirators, and fire fighting equipment provided has reached considerable figures. ,
