RUGBY IN PAEROA
MEETING OF THE UNION MATCHES FOR SATURDAY JOHNSTON CUP CHALLENGE b J A meeting of the management committee of the Paeroa Rugby Union was held in the office of Mr R. Clark on Monday, the chairman, Mr D. G. McMillan, presiding. Others present were Messrs G. Masters, C. Pascoe, K. Ryall, A. Crosby, W. Townley, R. L. Darley and the secretary, Mr H. McGregor. Mr W. Townley was elected a member of the committee. The Thames Rugby Union wrote accepting the union’s challenge for the Johnston Cup, fixing the date for July 10 1 . The Waihi Rugby Union wrote advising that they were in a position to play matches with Paeroa. It was decided to investigate means of transport before accepting this match. The treasurer reported that on Saturday the gate takings had totalled £2 18s 6d and insurance £l. It was arranged that on Saturday, July 3, the juniors' play Te Aroha at Te Aroha and the thirds meet Te Aroha at Paeroa at 2.30 p.m. Mr C. Pascoe wag appointed manager of the juniors and Mr W. Townley coach and manager for the thirds. Mr Townley was appointed to the selection committee.

Three-quarters.—G. Fulton, W. Shilton, J. Jamieson. Five-eighths.— K. Ryall. Half-back. —A. Crosby. Forwards.—<G. Smith, R. Neil, N. Vinnicombe, W. Strong, R. Peareon, C. Ricketts, Hastie and W. Nevin. Emergencies.—N. Hansen and. J. McKain.
