HIS FAN MAIL

LETTERS READ IN PAEROA VISIT OF THE “BOND WAGGON” Entertaining the crowd which gathered in the Paeroa Post Office area on Friday, on the occasion of the visit of the Liberty Loan “Bond Waggon” Mr Dudley Wrathall (manager of the IZB concert party which is touring with the waggon), read some amusing “excerpts” from what he described as the “extensive ‘fan’ mail” allegedly received by the party from time to time. One of these letters, after a highly laudatory appreciation of the talents and personality of certain IZB artists—the manager included —ended thus: “This letter is being written with crayon, as in this institution we are not allowed to handle anything sharp.” (The institution in question was the Avondale Mental Hospital). Another choice selection was from a “communication” from a lad somewhere on the East Uoast, who, after expressing great admiration of the addressee, concluded: “At the present moment I an* in the orchard eating an apple, which to full ot worms. I hope this finds you the same.”
