SECOND BIRTHDAY
NETHERTON W.W.S.A. FUNCTION ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON A most enjoyable afternoon was spent at the residence of Mrs J. Morrison, Netherton, on Tuesday last to celebrate the second birthday of the Netherton W.WjS.A. A lovely cake was made and given by Mrs R. Locke and beautifully iced by Mrs L. Durman. The first part of the afternoon was spent in competitions after which a delicious afternoon tea was served. The candles on the birthday cake were lit and blown out by little Jennie Malcolm. The president, Mrs J. Reid, in a few well-chosen words thanked Mrs. Locke and Mrs Durman for the cake and also Mrs Morrison for lending her home for the occasion and said that she hoped their next birthday would be a “Victory” one. The cake was then cut and handed around. Competitions were won as follows: Symbols representing songs.—Mrs J. Hayes 1, Mrs R. Wilson 2. Tearing paper animals.—Miss A. Whisker 1, Mrs J. Cheale 2. Book titles.—Miss A. Hill. Word building.—Miss A. Whisker I, Mrs Whisker 2. Those present were:—Mrs J. Morrison Snr., Mrs J- Reid, Mrs R. Locke, Mrs L. Durman, Mrs G. Morrison, Mrs W. Hayes, Mrs J. Hayes, Mrs Cheale, Mrs J. Cheale, Mrs L. Sanderson, Mrs J. Whisker, Mrs J. Crosbie, Mrs Firth, Mrs R. Wilson, Mrs J. Gordon, Mrs €. Townshend, Mrs A. Mills, Mrs A. Laurent, Mrs Thompson, Mrs Malcolm, Miss E. Morrison, Miss A. Hill, Miss A. Whisker.
