PRESENTATIONS MADE
WAITAKARURU FUNCTION FIVE SOLDIERS FAREWELLED A large crowd attended the farewell function held in the Waitakaruru 'Hall on Monday evening, at which Messrs B. Paton, E. Duffn, A. Huinga, J. Connor and V. Maxwell were honoured. Mr Maxwell was unable to be present. In making the presentations, Mr G. Paton introduced the men and wished them luck, saying that they had lived in the district for many years and were going to join other Waitakaruru boys who were serving with the famous New Zealand Division. Wishing them a safe return, Mr Paton called on Mrs Donaldson to make the presentations. The guests of honour suitably replied, each thanking Mr Paton for his remarks. The first Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss S. Conner and Mr C. de Thierry. Miss M. Perry and Mr B. Harris won the second. Dance music was supplied by Harrison’s Orchestra, an extra being played by Miss P. Johnson, Auckland.
