BOWLING CLUB

PAEROA ANNUAL MEETING ELECTION OF OFFICERS SOUND POSITION OF. FINANCES The thirty-ninth annual meeting of the Paeroa Bowling Club was held in the Civic Hall on Wednesday night, the president, Mr C. C. Webb, presiding over a good attendance of members. The president paid a tribute to members of the club who had suffered in any way during the year from the war. the meeting standing in silence as a mark of respect to all New Zealand boys who paid the supreme sacrifice. The annual report (already published) and balance-sheet, showed that the season just ended had been a very successful one, the finances being in a very sound condition. The credit balance of the club was shown at £127 7s sd. Messrs R. F. Peterson, R. Howard and R. Bath were elected members of the club. Election of Officers The election of officers resulted as under: —Patron, Mr C. C. Webb; president, Mr R. Buckrell; vice-presidents, Messrs T. W. Pye and G. Stewart; hon. treasurer, Mr Geo. Stewart; hon. secretary, Mr T. W. Pye; hon. auditor, Mr J: Walmsley; green superintendent, Mr R. Buckrell; executive committee, Messrs A. Plummer, J. Walmsley, E. E. Faulkner, W. Morrison, E. W. Chisholm, W. E. Westlake; delegates to South Auckland Centre, Messrs G. Stewart and.E. Faulkner; delegates to Goldfields Centres, Messrs R. Buckrell and T. W. Pye; match committee, Messrs C. C. Webb, E. W. Chisholm, W. E. 'Westlake; sole selector, Mr C. C. Webb. Mr L. Gibb was elected a life member of the club, appreciation being expressed by a number of members of the able service he had given to the club for so many years.

The question of additional accommodation was discussed, members pointing out the need for another green. After lengthy discussion. when it was agreed that present conditions were not opportune it was decided to re-open the question at the next annual meeting. Appreciation was expressed of the service rendered the club by Mr T. L. Williams who has acted as green superintendent for a number of years and the secretary was instructed to record same in the minutes.
