WOMEN’S DIVISION
MEETING HELD AT TIROHIA RESULT OF THE COMPETITION The monthly meeting of the Tirohia branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union held at the president’s home • recently was well attended in spite of the weather. The meeting opened, with the singing of the Division song, followed by the Creed. The resignation of Miss I. Veale who has been secretary and treasurer ever since the Tirohia branch was formed was received with regret. Mrs W. Noble was elected to fill her place. A letter from the Provincial Secretary asking if the branch approved of sending representatives to the Dominion Executive meeting in Wellington was answered in the affirmative. Mrs Wild reported on the provincial meeting held in Paeroa. One fact to be noted was that Tirohia contributed almost a third of the donations to the Thames Valley Housekeeping Fund last year. After some discussion it was decided to hold a card evening in the school during July. Two prizes were donated for five hundred. The proceeds will be devoted to providing parcels for local lads who are overseas. The president welcomed Mrs Atchison, a new member, and three visitors from Te Aroha, Mrs Hair, Miss Ross and Miss Clark. Miss Clark judged the knitted seaboot stockings and Mrs Hair and Miss Ross gave prizes to the winners, Mrs Cliff Jackson and Mrs Wiggins. The meeting closed with a prayer for peace. ; Competition results:— I Best bloom. —Mrs Noble 1, Mrs Atchison 2, Mrs Wild 3.
